Batman Action Figures

Batman action figures have always been very popular among the kids and adults too. Batman character has been featured in comics, movies and animated series/movies. Batman action figure has been produced the most when compared with the other characters. In the year of 1960, a toy company Ideal Toy presented a new line based on the character of Batman. This was an answer to the Hasbro's popular G.I. Joe action figure line. This new action figure was dressed in a super hero costume holding hat, gun and sword. The costumes were also available separately. Then in the year of 1966, ABC T.V. channel television launched Batman action series. The following year, Ideal launched Action Boy, an associate action figure for Captain Action. Toy Company Kenner produced a line of Batman action figure toys in 1990. These were the figures of DC Comics. Kenner produced several versions of Batman action figures toys armed with unique accessories. The Bruce Wayne and The Joker were the famous ones. The Dark Knight series of batman action figure was launched with several vehicles.

Batman Returns–

After the release of the film Batman Returns, Kenner renamed the batman figure line as Batman Returns. This new batman figure line was launched with several versions that were previously seen in Dark Knight Collectibles. Kenner also produced the two villains, Penguin and Catwoman in batman figures line as collectibles. Catwoman was given a new shape, but Penguin was inspired by the Super Power's line of Kenner. The supporting character Robin was also rejuvenated.

Batman Forever -

In the year of 1995, ‘Batman Forever’ movie was released. After this movie, Kenner manufactured Batman figures using fresh sculpts. Batman Forever action figures were launched after the release of this movie by the Target company.

Batman & Robin –

When this movie was released, Kenner launched Batman figures along with Robin. This time, it launched several versions of the villains.

Batman in Animated Series

-After Batman: The Animated Series, Kenner released a new line of figures for Batman, Robin and new villains like Clayface, Scarecrow and Poison Ivy. Also Kenner launched the T.A.S.: Crime Squad line for Batman figure. This new batman statue had different variations without any villain figures. Kenner renamed this series as ‘The Adventures of Batman & Robin’. And in the recent past, The Dark Knight collection was launched featuring 5-inch figures. This line included villain ‘The Joker’. A 6-inch line was produced as The Dark Knight Movie Masters. This new batman statue became much desired. This line will continue into spring 2009.

The Skills & Abilities-

Batman does not have any kind of superpower; he is confident of his scientific knowledge, athletic prowess and detective skills. Batman gets information using a separate identity, he is full of disguise.

Batman Costume –

Batman costume was made with a basic idea of a bat fighting with criminals. The colors of the costume are grey and blue. The gloves have 3 scallops, but in his earliest appearances the gloves were short with no scallops.

Batmobile -

This is the primary vehicle of Batman that is a black car with tailfins resembling wings of a bat. Other vehicles of Batman are Batplane, Batboat and Batcycle. Batman posses a belt in which he keeps his field equipments and crime fighting tools. Batman costumes, Belts, plane, boat, cycle statues and busts are also famous with Batman action figures.

Bat-Signal -

When the city of Gotham needs Batman, the police activate a searchlight that shines in the sky in the night creating a bat-symbol that can be seen from any point in Gotham city.

Batcave –

This is where the Batman resides, his headquarters. There are several caves beneath the ‘Wayne Manor’. Batcave accommodates him and all his tools and equipments. The scientific facility is also in the Batcave.

The first Robin leaves his mentor to assist Batman as Nightwing. The second Robin is beaten to death by the villain, but returns. At times, Batman has been a part of the superhero team like in ‘The Outsiders’ and ‘Justice League of America’. Batman also paired up with Superman in the World's Finest and Superman/Batman series. The two superheroes are depicted as close friends; however, they also have a different view on crime fighting and justice. In the opposition, Batman has common criminals to super-villains. The most important is the Joker, who represents everything Batman opposes. He takes comedic delight in challenging Batman with crime. The Joker is responsible for crippling Barbara Gordon, for killing the second Robin and Sarah Essen Gordon. Other important villains are Catwoman, Penguin among many others.
