Samurai Action Figures

SAMURAI - Samurai refers to the military nobility of the pre-industrial Japan. During the feudal era in Japan, one of the most important aspects of Japanese culture is the ‘Samurai’. The story begins with the early shogun warriors during the Heian period of Japan. These warriors were trained fighters. They were amassed by Kammu, the emperor of Japan from the eighth to early ninth centuries. Actually, the Imperial courts never regard them highly. These warriors were seen as barbarians rather than the cultured Samurai portrayed today in this modern age.

WEAPONS – These warriors used different weapons, but the ‘Katana’ is the one that is synonymous with ‘Samurai’. The Katana is the soul of the Samurai. A Samurai is pictured as entirely dependent on this weapon to fight. This weapon was so precious for them that they would look at it as a part of their life. When a male child was born in the community, he would get his first sword in on the ‘Mamori-Gatana’ a ceremony. The sword was covered with brocade with a purse or wallet attached to it worn by children under the age of five. When a child would reach 13, he was given the first real weapon and he became a Samurai during the ceremony ‘Genpuku’.
